WGC/Bridgestone Invitational
August 3rd - 8th, 2010
As you are probably aware, Troop 74 parks cars at the Bridgestone Invitational Golf Tournament held at Firestone Country club. The troop has worked hard for many years providing this service. This is both a great undertaking to provide this service as well as a great honor to be trusted by the tournament organizers to continue to provide the service.
The troop receives a substantial payment for performing this service and it is because of this payment that campouts are possible for only $10 per scout, special activities for $5 per scout and the troop fully funds the entire eagle ceremony for each Eagle Scout. The fees for these activities only cover a small portion of the actual cost of the event and the troop pays the remaining amount. These fees may be increased in the future for those that choose not to help with parking for the minimum required hours.
We need the help of every scout and their family members to be able to provide the parking service for the tournament. In past years entire families have donated their time for the entire week to ensure that the parking is a success. We need approximately 65 people for the week for parking. Every scout is required to participate. We ask that all parents volunteeer as much time as possible. Siblings, cousins, grandparents and friends are also needed. Please do your part to ensure that the troop can continue to provide the quality program at a greatly reduced cost than would otherwise be possible.
If the tournament is rained out on one of the scheduled days, the missed day will be made up on Monday August 9th. We will meet at the church on each day at 5:00 am and then proceed to the assigned parking areas. Breakfast will be provided at the church. The day will end at about 3:30 in the afternoon. Lunch and snacks will be provided throughout the day. More information will be provided at a later date.
We will be contacting each family to find out what days you are available for parking. Please consider making yourself available for all six days of the tournament. If you cannot be available for the entire day, we can also use you for the morning or the afternoon.
The troop expects your help with parking but also greatly appreciates the sacrifice of each person that volunteers his or her time. As a special thank you for your efforts, the troop will provide a fun night with pizza and games in September or October after the tournament is over. There is minimal or no cost for this fun night for all those that participate in the parking.
Parking Coordinators for this year’s tournament are Neal Ratta and Pam Ferguson. If you have any questions pertaining to parking please talk to Mr. Ratta (330-352-5583) or Mrs. Ferguson (330-475-2546) or any of the leaders. Also let Mr. Ratta or Mrs. Ferguson know when you are available for parking.
